NOREUIL PARK FACILITIES, ALBURY

Noreuil Park is a popular community gathering place by the Murray River in Albury. The area is shaded in summer by mature plane trees providing a dense canopy. An existing brick building housed the Mitta Canoe Club, rudimentary public toilets, and an ice cream kiosk.

The designated flood zone in the area dictated floor levels, and the plane trees had a major impact on the new building footprint. Lightweight construction with clear subfloor space was selected to satisfy the need to allow future floodwaters to flow through parts of the site. The building now contains Mitta Canoe Club rooms, public toilets and change rooms, and the popular “Riverdeck Cafe”.
